Fake GHS200 Note Alert: UMB Cautions Ghanaians to Stay Vigilant

Image
Universal Merchant Bank Exposes Fake GH₵200 Note in Viral Post—Urges Public to Stay Alert In a thought-provoking post shared on July 28, Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) raised alarm over a counterfeit 200 Ghana cedi note circulating online. The post cleverly challenged viewers with a twist—highlighting that anyone who selected the GHS200 note in a guessing game might need to double-check their instincts. “Plot twist! If you chose the 200 cedis, I’m sorry to announce to you that you can neither buy your Jollof nor your Banku with tilapia. Why? It is fake,” UMB shared via their official Facebook page. The bank pointed out critical flaws in the fake note’s design. Most notably, the serial number beneath the denomination and the cedi symbol on the top left corner were missing obvious signs of forgery when compared to a legitimate GHS200 note. UMB applauded those who spotted the difference and identified the note as counterfeit. The message serves as a reminder that not everything that l...

The Power of Consistency: Unlocking Growth and Success

Image
Credit:  Mandy Chinedum  Why Showing Up Every Day Matters By Mandy As designers, we often look at successful peers and wonder how they achieved their goals overnight. However, the truth is that success rarely happens by chance. It's built through consistency, perseverance, and a willingness to show up every day, even when it feels like no one is watching. Recently, I had the opportunity to speak with 10 beginner designers, and 5 of them shared a common concern: they were working hard but not seeing immediate results. I've been in their shoes, and I understand the frustration that comes with feeling like progress is slow. But here's the thing: growth isn't always sexy or immediate. It's often messy, quiet, and slow. However, it's in these moments of slow progress that we're building momentum, learning, and growing. So, what moves the needle? It's not just about creating great designs; it's about:  Posting consistently, even when you're not sure an...

Stop! The Hidden Dangers of Cotton Buds You Didn’t Know

Image
Experts Warn Against Using Cotton Buds in Ears — Linked to Hearing Loss and Serious Injuries A common hygiene routine might be quietly damaging your hearing. Health professionals are sounding the alarm on the hidden dangers of using cotton buds to clean inside your ears — a habit many see as harmless but could result in serious, even irreversible, damage. Dr. Tonia L. Farmer , a board-certified otolaryngologist in Ohio, emphasises that cotton swabs were never designed for ear cleaning. “They really weren’t made to clean your ears,” she explained. “Most people don’t realise that using them can push the wax further in and cause impaction, pain, or even a ruptured eardrum.” The human ear, she says, is naturally self-cleaning. Everyday actions like talking or chewing help wax slowly move out of the ear canal . Interfering with this process by inserting objects, such as cotton buds, can block the canal, trap bacteria, and damage delicate inner structures. Dr. Farmer warns, “Don’t put an...
