Fidelity Bank, MTN MoMo & JUMO Launch BoseaLoan to Boost Financial Access in Ghana

In a major move to strengthen financial inclusion in Ghana, Fidelity Bank Ghana, in collaboration with MobileMoney Limited (subsidiary of MTN Ghana) and fintech partner JUMO, has launched BoseaLoan—a digital, short-term loan product designed to deliver fast and flexible credit to underserved individuals and small businesses.

The new loan service is accessible exclusively to MTN MoMo users, enabling eligible customers to secure instant credit via their mobile phones. The product leverages the financial strength of Fidelity Bank, MTN’s vast mobile money infrastructure, and JUMO’s AI-powered banking technology to provide seamless, real-time credit solutions.

According to a joint statement issued in Accra, BoseaLoan targets micro-enterprises, traders, and individuals typically excluded from traditional financial systems due to limited credit history or lack of collateral. The product promises to reduce barriers to entry and open access to affordable credit for many across the country.

“As the largest privately-owned Ghanaian bank, the launch of BoseaLoan aligns with our broader vision of economic empowerment,” said Mr Julian Opuni, Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Ghana.
“It simplifies access to formal credit, while lowering entry barriers for underserved communities by delivering real-time mobile loans.”

Mr. Shaibu Haruna, CEO of MobileMoney Limited, described the initiative as pivotal to MTN’s digital finance agenda:
“The launch of BoseaLoan is a key step towards positioning MoMo as Africa’s leading digital platform for inclusive financial and digital solutions.”

He explained that users can access the service by dialling *170#, selecting Financial Services > Loan Services > BoseaLoan—a process designed to be quick, user-friendly, and widely accessible.

Mr. Bradwin Roper, Chief of Payments Partnerships at JUMO, highlighted the power of AI in the new service:
“Our AI-driven platform drastically reduces the cost of delivering financial services, helping banks and mobile operators reach customers long excluded from such opportunities.”

With this partnership, the three institutions aim to bridge Ghana’s financial access gap, especially for women, youth, and micro-entrepreneurs, while supporting national goals of economic empowerment and resilience.
